haga3app, a mobile application that allows users to upload/ record their cheering videos to their sports team secured $100,000 in a seed funding round from a group of angel investors including Hazem Shiha and Dia Alaasar- founders of Fame Sports Marketing company and Real Madrid Football Academy in Egypt, and from two other undisclosed investors from the media and marketing sector.
The app, which was founded in January 2018 by Sherif Hossny, is designed for the four Arab countries which qualified to the World Cup Russia 2018. Users from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and Morocco can upload a 20-seconds video while cheering their national team. The video with the highest likes in any week will win a trip to the World Cup 2018 including hotel accommodation, flight tickets, and match tickets.
Sherif Hossny, Founder and CEO of Shaga3app, told Forbes Middle East, “The new investments will help our growth plans in other markets and sports, we designed the platform to give the opportunity to our users to upload their cheering videos to their sports team or players, even after the world cup.
“We are planning to attract new equity investments around $400,000 during the coming period to boost our expansion plans.” Hosny added that Shaga3app is negotiating to allow the app in the Saudi Professional League and Formula1 in Bahrain.
Shaga3app—which has bagged sponsorship from beverage company Coca-Cola—has more than 25,000 downloads so far and received 1,900 videos especially from Egypt and has been rated among top 20 new application releases on Android in its first week.
Also, the app has a show on the YouTube in which they highlighted that the content was generated directly from the app and they have over 10 million views on for their seven episodes so far.
